In the wild, when lions hunt, they don’t try to catch every wildebeest. They single one out and attack it. This is how your business should approach Internet marketing. For example, if your are targeting professionals then LinkedIn is the best place to promote yourself. If you are targeting the general population then Facebook can be a powerful social network. If you are involved in a complex sector, then Slideshare and Scribd can be work to great effect. The examples above are only a small proportion of the the social networks at your disposal. There will be popular forums for your market niche that can generate serious traffic. I could continue writing for hours but the general principal is that you should target your market niche not the entire Internet.

It comes down to quality versus quantity. Quality traffic is what you want. People who will buy. The more focused your internet marketing strategy is, the higher percentage of visitors will buy. Good traffic means that the various conversion techniques will work better. Also, you will get better quality word of mouth.

Marketing online is the same as marketing offline. You got to know your customer.
