Facebook Crash – Will The FarmVille Animals Starve?

Facebook has be down for the last half hour. So what?, you say. Well it does have implications that go beyond just peoples social lives.

The whole Facebook gaming universe has also come to a halt. Who is going to feed the poor animals on FarmVille?

Well more importantly how much revenue is being lost by Zynga et al.
With nobody playing their games on facebook for at least 1/48th of a day it is interesting to think about how this impacts Facebook gaming companies.

However, they are not the only ones that are losing out.

Millions of euro is being held up in ad revenue because ads can’t be displayed in Facebook downtime.

Client flow is being blocked from Facebook to many small businesses worldwide. Sales that would have been made now will never happen.

People booking a party who sent invites out using Facebook might not receive the last 25 confirmations. As a result, they under-book the hospitality.

When Facebook goes down we realise how much of an impact it has on modern life and also on small local businesses. See, on facebook the local restaurant, bakery or pub can compete and beat larger companies.

Anyway, lets hope the lads and ladies at Facebook can get it back up and running soon.
